Introduction to Reiki

In the simplest of terms, Reiki is healing using the Universal Life Force Energy that flows around and through all living things. Often visualized as a white or coloured healing energy that flows from the earth (Celtic) and/or the heavens (Usui) through the Root and Crown Chakras and flowing throughout the body along the meridian lines.

The Reiki Practitioner opens themselves to the energy and act as a conduit for that energy, using a system of symbols to strengthen the energy flow. The healing energy flows through them to be received by the recipient of the Reiki session.

The recipient's body knows best how to use the energy. For instance, a person may have pain in their shoulder. The focus of the treatment may be on the shoulder, but after the treatment the shoulder may still be painful. However, the recipient may no longer experience the debilitating migraines that they didn't think could be eliminated and often did not even discuss with the practitioner.

The Reiki Practitioner cannot diagnose a medical condition. Some may get a feeling or impression of some imbalance in a certain area and focus on that area. It remains fact, that the body is indeed the best Healer and chooses best how to use the healing energy brought to it by the practitioner.

Some Reiki Practitioners are also Medical Initiatives.

Reiki has evolved since it was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui. There are now dozens of additional symbols that resonate with people of different ethnicities such as Celtic, Tibetan, and Dolphin etc. regardless of the symbols a practitioner uses all Reiki observes the common traits indicated in the paragraphs above.

Reiki is a healing modality and NOT a religion. Reiki practitioners can observe any number of religous practices completely independent of their Reiki practice. However, what you believe strongly permeates all you do. I believe that the best parts of your religious beliefs will flow through your Reiki.

"In Love & Light"

Dr. Usui discovered Reiki during a mystical experience on Mt. Kurama, a sacred mountain north of Kyoto, Japan in March, 1922. A few months later he started a Reiki organization called the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai which means “Usui Reiki Healing Society.” He also opened a Reiki clinic in Harajuku, Aoyama, Tokyo. There he taught classes and gave Reiki treatments. After the Great Kanto earthquake in 1923 the demand for Reiki was great and it was at this time that Usui began training other teachers.

Celtic Reiki is a version of Usui Reiki, which uses vibrations of the Earth and specific plants to create a healing and manifestation contusive environment. The Reiki energy mimics the frequency of various trees and plants to work in accordance with channelled and Celtic wisdom. An Earth energy Reiki, Celtic Reiki is channelled up, through the root chakra, rather than down through the crown, as with the Usui technique. Celtic Reiki shows results similar to Traditional Reiki, influenced greatly by the energy techniques of the Celts.

The Celtic Reiki Symbols are derived from the ancient Ogham system of symbols associated with trees.
Martyn Pentecost is a Usui Reiki Master who is credited with the development of Celtic Reiki.
